Prepositions are used to indicate a relationship between words and/or phrases.

Combinations with definite article 'el'

The prepositions a and de combined with the male definite singular article el:

a + el -> al
de + el -> del

!! This last combination does not apply to de + a name starting with el :

De El País (a newspaper)
A El Campello (a City near Alicante)
