When we talk about the days of the week, we use an article

No el viernes.
I don't work on Friday
No los sábados.
I don't work on Saterdays (Note the plural in Spanish)
Hay una fiesta el domingo.
There is a party on Sunday

¿Cuál es la fecha de hoy?
¿A cuántos hoy?
¿Qué día hoy?
What is the date today?

When talking about the first day of the month, use “el primer dia” or “el primero”

El primer día de abril
El primero de abril.
The first of April

but for all other days just the cardinal number
El dos de abril.
The second of April
El veinticinco de abril.
The twenty-fifth of April
