A demonstrative pronoun always refers to something or someone. Spanish has three types (Close, Not very close and
Far).

Aquí and Allí versus Acá and Allá
Aquí and allí are usually accompanied by verbs of permanence (Quédate allí - stay there),
while acá and allá are usually accompanied by verbs of movement (ven acá - come here).
Aquí and allí are widely used in Spain, acá and allá more in Latin America.
